Anime Savepoint. New anime from the spring season.
Hello, greetings, and welcome to Anime save point.
Spring anime season has started and there is a lot of anime to get through. Way too much to put in one blog post. That being said, I picked out some of the key first and second episodes I watched and thought I'd let you guys what’s going on.
Also, share this post with your fellow Otakus and friends that you think would find these posts interesting. I really appreciate it.
But enough talk, Let's dive right in.
1. Go Go Loser Ranger Episode 1 and 2
Go Go Loser Ranger was one of the most hyped anime for Spring 2024 and I would say the first two episodes live up to the hype. But only just.
What is most compelling to me is that you don’t know whether the ones we are being told are evil are in fact actually evil. I mean we’ve been told that they are the supposed antagonist of the series and that much is obvious, but so far they haven’t been shown doing anything particularly evil other than fighting the monsters.
Word on the street is that this isn’t going to be the case throughout the whole show and it should become grittier as we go on but so far the intrigue is definitely there and I can't wait to see where the show goes.
Truth be told though; the first episode was pretty good and the second episode was intriguing but neither was amazing. Let’s see whether this changes later on.
2. Dainanaoji / I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability.
Episodes 1 and 2 (Goodness gracious what a mouthful)
I’m going to be as straightforward as possible.
This anime is an Isekai. (No shit lmao)
There is nothing in this Isekai that you haven’t seen before.
Does that mean the show is bad?
No.
But what makes it different then?
The “Prince” is very weird.
Weird how you ask?
Well……
Just weird.
But in all seriousness the animation is good, and the story seems to be pretty solid by Isekai standards so far. Give it a watch if you're obsessed with Isekai garbage like yours truly.
3. Kaiju No.8 Episode 1
This was an amazing first episode. Gorgeous visuals, compelling story clear objectives, and back story given. Watching it didn’t feel in any way straining. Like how it can be sometimes when getting into a new show. It flowed smooth like a hot knife through butter. The monsters aren’t CGI garbage (which was a huge relief) and the characters all appear to have some depth and aren’t completely one-dimensional.
This is going to be one of the best shows this season.
4. Train to the End of the World Episode 2
Train to the End of the World is probably going to be one of the sleeper hits this season. This and “Jellyfish can’t swim at night” (But I'll write more about that later on in the month).
The show is exciting and you can’t help but feel a little bit of terror as the girls set off on their train journey into the unknown. The characters are all different and not just variations of the same type of trope. They all have different motivations and drives as to why they’re going on this journey and it’s great to see. I feel like as the show goes on they’re going to be tested in ways that they the travelers and we the viewers couldn’t even possibly imagine. I can't wait to see it.
5. Oblivion Battery Episode 1
Oblivion Battery is a new baseball sports anime focusing on two high school prodigy players. One being the pitcher and the other being the catcher who can handle his destructive throws. They were on their way to being the best, but all this changed when the catcher lost his memory and now hates the sport of baseball.
The premise seems interesting. It’s just a shame that the first episode was incredibly cringe and poorly written the characters so far are boring as all hell. I feel like the show will find its footing as it goes on and when more characters are introduced but so far it’s very underwhelming.
6. Ninja Kamui Episode 9
I had really high hopes for Ninja Kamui. It had good animation. Great fight scene choreography but at the end of the day the show is just no fun. It is awesome but it's also dry. It doesn’t feel like the awesome that makes you want to tell your friends about it. This doesn’t mean that the show isn’t good and I do think that you should check out the Adult Swim original. But it’s just lacking that little bit of anime magic that makes us really love a show.
It’s not that it isn’t good. It just seems incredibly forgettable which I didn’t want to be the case.
